7-08-90 Carpet Warehouse 5th Alarm in Brooklyn
Brooklyn Box 77-55-1457 was transmitted on July 8, 1990, The location, 39th Street and 3rd Ave in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn near Bush Terminal. The one story 200x200 building was fully involved upon arrival of the first due units. Exposure 2, a Five story wasrehouse was severly threatnened . Multiple alarms were quickly transmitted. I responded from the other end of Brooklyn. When I arrived I walked down the block where fire was blowing out of a garage door an arial ladder that was probably used for ventilation was stuck in the doorway.. Flames were blowing out over firefighters who were operating a 2 1/2 handline into the gargage. The building was full of carpets, Tower Ladders were set up in front of the building and and numerous handline were stretched into the 5 story exposure 2 building.
