BAGEL NOSH FIRE ON 12-28-77 Bklyn 2nd Alarm
I was living at my parents home on East 52nd Street at that time. The back of our home faced Flatbush ave near Avenue U. I was a NYC EMS Ambulance Corpsman. As I was getting ready to go to work at CIH, I heard sirens . I put my scanner on. The radio stopped on the Brooklyn Fire frequency. I heard " Engine 309 to Brooklyn, URGENT" The dispatcher " Go ahead Engine 309" Engine 309, "10-75 Box 3073" ! I went to my parents bedroom and looked out of the window. Wow, The bagel Nosh was fully involved in fire. I grabbed my camera and went around the corner. The camera I was using at that time was a Pentax K1000. It was a completely manual camera. By moving the Aperture ring and turning the shutter speed dial, you would make changes until the needle was in between the Positive and negative symbols in the viewfinder. I took a bunch of Negative color film. I finished the roll of Kodacolor 200 or 400. I then loaded Extachrome slide film into the camera. The fire went to a second alarm. The fire was arson, The owners were arrested later on. People were seen the night before removing items from the restaurant.
